JapanLocker Ransomware

I think there's an issue with my storage device, but I'm not sure
Start a free evaluationJapanLocker Ransomware is a type of malware that encrypts your files and demands a ransom to decrypt them.
History
This ransomware was first discovered in May 2016. Since then, JapanLocker Ransomware developers have used it in many attacks. We believe JapanLocker to be the work of a group known as the Locky gang. The Locky gang is also responsible for other types of ransomware, such as Locky Ransomware and Zepto Ransomware.
Infection method
Attackers spread JapanLocker through malicious email attachments and infected websites. The email attachments usually pose as invoices, receipts, or other types of documents. When you open the attachment, JapanLocker will be installed on your computer and will start encrypting your files. JapanLocker Ransomware will encrypt your files using a robust encryption algorithm. Once your files are encrypted, they will have a .locked extension added to them. JapanLocker Ransomware will then display a ransom note, which will instruct you on how to pay the ransom and decrypt your files.
Ransom note
It will display the ransom note in each of the folders containing an encrypted file and on your desktop. The note contains instructions on how to buy Bitcoin, as well as a unique Bitcoin address that you need to send the payment. You have 72 hours to make the payment, after which the price will double.
Ransom amount
JapanLocker Ransomware demands a ransom of 2 Bitcoins, which is currently equivalent to $1,600.We do not recommend that you pay the ransom, as there is no guarantee that you will get your files back.
Protection
JapanLocker Ransomware is a severe threat that can result in the loss of important files. To protect your computer from JapanLocker and other types of ransomware, you should:- Use a reputable antivirus program and keep it up to date- Avoid opening email attachments from unknown senders- Do not download software from untrustworthy websites- Keep your operating system and software up to date
